COME MAKE SOME COOL STUFF

2017

'Come Make Some Cool Stuff' (Various Dimensions) is an interactive soft sculpture work that consists of multiple self-cut memory foams, dyed with synthetic dispersal dye colour. The work's multifarious shapes and colours play off the unique design of various cushioned seats that can be found in an iconic study space within SOTA's campus, named the "Cool Stuff Zone".

The space's cushions are known for their soft texture, and their ability to be rearranged into different formations to create a conducive and even fun environment for learning. The interactive work is inspired by that specific feature, aiming to recreate that experience for viewers, as they play around and create their own formations with the soft-sculptures like a set of building blocks.

The work offers a moment of escape for viewers to embrace the side of their playfulness and creativity by presenting them with the simplicity and innocence of the soft objects to play with as if they were children. The metaphorical symbol infers to teach us to simply have some fun in midst of a life of constant productivity, work and academic progress.
